The Ocean Cleanup

Kia is collaborating with an initiative called The Ocean Cleanup to tackle plastic pollution in the ocean. In August 2023, this effort successfully removed 55 tons of plastic from the Pacific Ocean using the System002. This plastic will be recycled, and some will be incorporated into Kia’s upcoming cars. The project is also starting to place interceptors near river entrances to prevent plastic waste from entering the ocean.
