True sports fans know that watching games on TV doesn’t compare to seeing them played live. Luckily for residents of Fort Smith, AR, there is a wide range of stadiums within easy driving distance of the city.

1. Jim Rowland Stadium

There’s something special about high school football games. If you enjoy spending time under the Friday night lights, take a trip to Jim Rowland Stadium. It is home to the Fort Smith Southside Mavericks football team.

The stadium is equipped with seating for over 5,000 people. It has other great facilities, including a video scoreboard and large concession stands. You’ll find Jim Rowland Stadium at 4100 Gary Street.

2. UAFS Crowder Field

If you’re a fan of baseball, check out UAFS Crowder Field. This stadium is home to the UAFS Lions baseball team. It’s fun to watch college ball in the summer and enjoy the sunshine. The stadium can welcome around 1,000 fans and features some small bleachers and a grassy terrace area that is suitable for lawn chairs and picnics.

As well as college games, the stadium also hosts tournaments and high school games. UAFS Crowder Field can be found on the campus of the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. The street address is 5600 Kinkhead Avenue.

3. Pointers Athletic Field

Pointers Athletic Field is another quality venue for local high school sports. As home to the Van Buren Pointers high school teams, it hosts football, soccer, lacrosse, track, and other events. There are seats for more than 6,000 people, distributed in bleachers on both sides of the field.

This stadium is located in Van Buren. It is about a 15-minute drive northeast of Fort Smith.

4. Fort Smith Convention Center

Forth Smith Convention Center is one of the biggest and best-known buildings in town. This indoor arena hosts various sporting events throughout the year too. One of the most famous is the Battle at the Fort volleyball tournament.

5. Harper Stadium

If you’re looking for something a little different, Harper Stadium is an ideal option. This 9,000-seat arena hosts a variety of exciting sporting events. These include rodeo and racing events.  

Harper Stadium is located within Kay Rogers Park. It occasionally hosts other events like concerts and circuses, so there’s really no telling what kind of fun you might have when you visit.
