Ever since it was established back in 1910, the Museum of History has worked towards its mission of preserving pieces of Fort Smith’s history. You’ll see that in everything from vintage automobiles that once cruised our streets to reconstructions of old courthouses where the law of our town was carried out. There’s also a war memorial exhibit that lets you learn about the brave men and women from our area who served in our nation’s armed forces.
Take a Walk Through Time
Stop in during the museum’s Walk Through Time event to see history brought to life for you to witness. A special walking tour will introduce you to some of the prominent figures of our area’s history, played by members of the museum’s staff and volunteers. This one-of-a-kind experience is the most immersive way to experience the history that’s occurred right here in Fort Smith.
Other Special Events
Plan your visit around the museum’s calendar of events to get the most out of your trip here. Other than the Walk Through Time experience, you can also stop in to catch one of the bike shows held here, or enjoy some brats and burgers at a cookout. Other events have included recreations of historic trials that happened right here in our town.
