The Soul is known for its budget-friendly price, style, and reliability. That trend continues in 2022 as this popular subcompact SUV refines its design and adds more safety features.
The 2022 Soul added a new turbocharged engine. The new Soul Turbo provides a nimble ride with enough power to get you where you need to go. The Soul has also added new driver-assist technologies to its standard features.
Pricing
The Soul LX starts at $19,190 and the X-Line at $22,290. The 2022 Soul Turbo starts at $27,790.
Trim Levels
In 2022, the Soul added the X-Line and the Turbo trim. The Soul lineup now has six trim levels: the LX, the S to the GT-Line, X-Line, EX, and Turbo.
The mid-level X-Line Soul has an exciting new rugged design, with the top-level Turbo providing more horsepower and 18-inch alloy wheels. Kia eliminated the manual transmission from the lineup with automatic front-wheel drive on all models.
Performance
The Soul has two engine options available, a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and the Turbo’s 1.6-liter 4-Cylinder. The standard engine provides 147 horsepower with the upgraded Turbo version at 201 horsepower. With an MPG of 28 mpg city, you’ll find it’s easy and economical to get around town.
Interior
The interior seats five and has plenty of space for cargo. The roomy Soul offers a 62 cubic ft. tailgate for even more storage flexibility.
The cabin is modern and comfortable, with available features like ambient lighting, colorful trim, and speaker lights.
The Soul also offers options like power-adjustable seats for the driver and a power sunroof.
Technology
Kia’s infotainment system offers a 10.3-inch touchscreen on all trims except the LX. Thanks to advanced navigation, Bluetooth, and available wireless charging, you’ll have the most up-to-date technology for your next outing!
The system integrates with Apple AirPlay and Android Auto for connectivity with your smartphone.
Smart Cruise Control
Cruise control is now even easier to manage with Smart Cruise Control. Smart Cruise Control detects the distance from other cars using radar and modifies your speed to maintain a safe following distance.
You just set the cruise control to the speed and allowable distance ahead, and the cruise control will adjust the throttle. This feature is available on the Turbo.
Rear Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA)
The RCCA helps detect obstacles as you back up. The system uses sensors to detect objects behind you and automatically applies the brakes to avoid a collision. This feature is standard on all models except the LX.
Lane Keeping Assist
Lane Assist audibly alerts you if you start drifting into another lane. If the system detects that you are drifting, the Lane Assist may correct the steering. Lane Keeping Assist is now standard on all models.
