Car and Driver
Car and Driver awarded the Carnival a remarkable 9 out of 10 score. They liked how its design cleverly conceals its minivan appearance, making it seem more like an SUV.
“The 2025 model receives updates to its grille, headlamps, taillamps, wheels, and lower body panels inspired by the company’s new EV9 electric three-row crossover,” said Car and Driver’s Buyer’s Guide Managing Editor Drew Dorian.
They also mentioned its attractive design and reliable V6 engine.
“On both long-haul road trips and short errands about town, the 287-hp V-6 engine delivers smooth power and decent fuel economy,” said Dorian.
Car and Driver placed the Carnival in second place in their minivan rankings. The Toyota Sienna taking the top spot and the Honda Odyssey coming in a close third.
“Kia offers many standard driver-assistance features, including lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlamps, and blind-spot monitoring, all of which help the Carnival compete with the Pacifica, the Sienna, and the Honda Odyssey,” said Dorian.
During their testing, the Carnival managed to outperform the Environmental Protection Agency’s mileage estimates by two mpg. They also achieved quick acceleration, going from 0 to 60 mph in just seven seconds according to their testing.

Kelley Blue Book
The Kia Carnival received a 4.5-star rating from Kelley Blue Book. The reviewers praised its spacious cabin, cutting-edge safety features, and impressive warranty.
“The Carnival is a well-thought-out and well-executed vehicle. Our owner reviews praise the space, looks, and features,” said reviewer Colin Ryan.
They also pointed out that its design includes elements from Kia’s electric vehicles.
“The Carnival is distinct from other minivans because of this SUV-like look, yet it still has practical minivan aspects like sliding side doors, ” said Ryan. “Revamped styling this year evokes Kia’s futuristic approach with its new EV9 all-electric 3-row SUV.”
Ryan mentioned that the team was very happy with how the car performed while driving. He highlighted its strong 287 horsepower engine and how smoothly it shifted gears. He also pointed out the car’s precise steering and dependable braking system.
